LEARN THE TRUTH ABOUT NCSFA:

FACT #1: NCSFA Continues to Mismanage Funds

In 2022, the NCSFA spent three times as much on staff Salaries than they did on Grants. NCSFA's executive director Tim Bradley’s salary was only reported to the IRS once; in 2018, he was paid $122,015.00 plus $12,000 in other compensation. Since then, they’ve kept his salary off the 990 forms. We can only wonder why... Does the organization exist simply to line the pockets of its executives?

Despite NCSFA not reporting any lobbying expenses to the IRS, they have hired one of the most expensive lobbyists in Raleigh. Their reporting to the IRS is erroneous and conflicts with records obtained from the N.C. Secretary of State’s Office, which lists Debbie Clary is listed as their lobbyist. But what legislative accomplishments do they have to show for it?

In 2022, NCSFA spent nearly $110,000 just on "Travel Expenses"... this is almost half of what they spent on Grants & Other Assistance that actually benefits firefighters.

FACT #2: NCSFA Opposed Permanent Funding for Firefighter Cancer Insurance & LODD Benefit

NCSFA's lobbyist allegedly sent emails to a Senior Chairman of the NC House Appropriations Committee in OPPOSITION to permanent funding for firefighter cancer coverage and the Line of Duty Death Benefit. These benefits are critically important to firefighters and their loved ones, yet NCSFA has consistently fought AGAINST such policies that aid and protect firefighters. We demand answers.

FACT #3: NCSFA Cut Shady Deal with VFIS Insurance

It looks like VFIS was chosen as the NCSFA’s main insurance and cancer-coverage provider sometime in 2022. If a firefighter files a claim with VFIS, the NCSFA verifies eligibility of the firefighter’s membership. The meeting minutes that would have gone into detail about the selection of and vote for VFIS as the vendor are not available.

Cloyce Anders began marketing VFIS coverage from his insurance office in New Bern beginning in 1984. In 2002 he was elected the new president of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA). He was appointed by Mike Causey to the state Fire and Rescue Commission...

Does that all sound shady to you, too? We want answers...
